Congratulations to Abel Prize recipients for 2021 László Lovász and Avi Wigderson!
We would like to congratulate the Abel Prize recipients for 2021 László Lovász and Avi Wigderson! They were recognized “for their foundational contributions to theoretical computer science and discrete mathematics, and their leading role in shaping them into central fields of modern mathematics.” In the 1970’s, László Lovász and Avi Wigderson were part of a group of mathematicians that recognized the implications discrete mathematics could have in computer science. They made fundamental contributions to ‘computational complexity’, a theory that focused on efficiency of algorithms and eventually laid the theoretical groundwork for internet security.
