HLF Daily Recap – Wednesday
The third full day of the HLF began not in the usual venue, but saw participants dispersed across the greater Rhine-Neckar region. The Wednesday of the HLF is traditionally reserved for laureates to visit local schools to speak directly to classrooms, and inspire the youngest generation of aspiring mathematicians and computer scientists.
Meanwhile, the young researchers attending the HLF had the opportunity to visit some of the most prestigious institutions in the region, including the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) as well as the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS), one of the HLFF’S partners. Here, the young researchers were able to gain valuable insights into the inner workings of these institutions and their remarkable research.
The afternoon and evening brought the laureates and young researchers together for a boat trip along the beautiful Neckar river, where some of the brightest minds in mathematics and computer science were able to share their experience, exchange ideas and form new bonds, all against the backdrop of the historical old town of Heidelberg.
