Virtual Opening "I AM A.I. – explaining artificial intelligence"

On June 10, the interactive exhibition "I AM A.I. – explaining artificial intelligence" opens in a new digital format. Though originally planned as a travelling exhibition that was set to begin in April 2020 in the MAINS, the new format was developed because the tour had to be delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

How does a neural network learn? Can artificial intelligence be wrong sometimes? Is it possible to do something without understanding it? These and other questions will be examined by the digital exhibition through several thematic "trails," which include interactive software programs, images, videos, do-it-yourself experiments, and explanatory texts. The exhibition is targeted at everyone from the age of 12 and the content is complemented by interactive video tutorials presented by an exhibition guide.

IMAGINARY conceptualized and developed I AM A.I. together with international partners. The Carl Zeiss Foundation generously supports both the physical and digital exhibition. Starting in the fall of 2021, "I AM A.I." will be in Heidelberg at the MAINS.

Further information in both English and German can be found on the website. Additional material for the press, statements from Theresia Bauer, Minister of Science, Research and Arts of Baden-Württemberg and head of the foundation administration of the Carl Zeiss Foundation, Andreas Matt, CEO of IMAGINARY and even Cédric Villani, recipient of the Fields Medal 2010, are also available.
